The Lyonpaedia Project

Welcome to the home of our Lyonpaedia project.

The Lyonpaedia is a research project centered on the French city of Lyon in the fourteenth century. The main period of interest is 1345 through 1395, though there is material from the foundation of Lugdunum in 47 BC through to the early 15th century.

As you may have noticed we've moved the Lyonpaedia. This year we are hiring a couple of part-time researchers who will have the task of loading the material we have accumulated onto the website. This will involve scanning and OCRing paper documents and then creating the Wiki pages. There is a lot of material to get through which means that this will be an ongoing task throughout the year and beyond. It also means that the material on the site will be regularly updated starting in March.

With the Lyonpaedia having its own website and URL we've also created separate sites for our TRoS products (tros.griffingrove.com.au) and our painted figurines (miniatures.griffingrove.com.au). These sites will be up and running by March. In fact it was the decision to branch into painted figurines that prompted the restructure of the whole website.

We are all looking forward to the expansion of material on this site in the coming year. Three large sections will be tackled first. We will be adding significant content to the city layout. We will be completing the Who's Who of Lyon. We will be adding a section on shipping and naval warfare in the fourteenth century. There will be many other interesting little bits and pieces added as well over time.
