Campaign Scenarios

Campaign Scenarios

Our goal with our Lyon campaign is to produce a series of scenarios that can be played in isolation yet when viewed as a whole form a campaign. Due to the way in which we produce our products - lots of research performed on a part-time basis underpinning the product - it isn't possible for us to produce a contiguous campaign. We need to take into account the inevitable flow of time in the referee's campaign that will take place between campaign scenarios. Therefore we base our material on the assumption that the referee will play other scenarios between the installments of the campaign scenarios. With that in mind we decided to create a campaign wherein the player characters involved in the first scenario are unlikely to be the characters involved in the final scenario. This is what we term a generational campaign. It is quite possible that the children of the player characters involved in the first scenario are the characters that resolve the final scenario.

Our campaign commences in 1355 in the city of Lyon and culminates at the Battle of Nicopolis in 1396. Three of the scenarios follow a religious/spiritual theme and form a distinct sub-campaign. Three of the scenarios follow a military theme, again forming a distinct sub-campaign. Both sub-campaigns culminate in the final scenario.

Each campaign scenario is self-contained and can be played independently of all of our other scenario material. Each scenario cantains pre-generated player characters that can be used by the players if they wish. These also provide the referee with an idea of the skills and capability of the player characters that the scenario has been designed to accommodate. Each scenario is designed to occupy around fifty hours of game-time.

The Campaign Scenarios

Par la Main d'une Soeur

The first scenario is set in Lyon in 1355, some seven years after the Great Mortality of 1348. Being the first scenario it is designed to introduce both referee and players to the Lyon setting. In working their way through the material the players will explore much of Lyon and its immediate surroundings, and become familiar with some of the cities' main institutions. More than fifty NPCs are included in the product though it is unlikely that the players will explore every single plot arc and therefore meet all of those NPCs. By the end of the scenario each of the player characters will have established a small network of friends and acquaintences - and come to the attention of others both great and small.
