The <i>Guet</i> consisted of bands of common people responsible for patrolling the battlements. The <i>Escharguet</i> consisted of individuals from the professions, armoured in brigandine, who were responsible for manning the city gates. The <i>Rièreguet</i>, patricians armed as knights and mounted on horseback, were in command. Besides these there was a permanent lookout in the bell-tower of Saint Nizier, three lookouts at the church of Fourvière and on battlements of the West Wall, and many spies, correspondents and messengers reporting on hostile troop movements. He received an expectation of a dignity on February 22nd, 1342/1343. He was last mentioned in the sources on December 17th, 1345. He became Procureur of the Chapter to the papal court on December 17th 1345 and again on the 8th February 1361/1362. He was made judge of the court of the cloister on June 25th 1362 and again on June 25th 1363. He was made Sacristan by provision of the archbishop and presented to the Chapter on May 18th, 1362 and put in possession the same day. Pierre resigned the vestry on April 22nd, 1365. He made a grant of a gold chalice on May 8th, 1377. He died on May 4th, 1380 and was buried between the chapel of the Magdeleine and the altar of Saint Ignace to which he had founded a prebend. Licensed and then doctor in decrees. Curé de Verrières on November 18th, 1342. Curé of Vaureilles in the diocese of Cahors. Pierre permutes this profit against a Canonicat of Saint - Paul, a Canonicat and the Sacristie of Fourvières and the Archiprêtré of the Dombes on January 18th, 1343. He was the Official from August 30th, 1350 to December 13th, 1355 and again from July 3rd, 1360 to April 28th, 1363. He was Auditeur of the sacred palace and Archidiacre of Autun on September 17th, 1372.<br />]]></description>
